Ram Recalls 456,000 Trucks Over Trailer Tow Module Failure
Chrysler (FCA) issues recall for 456,287 vehicles including 2025-2026 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and Ram 3500/4500/5500 Cab Chassis. Improperly designed trailer tow module may cause trailer light and brake failure.
Another week, another massive recall in the pickup industry 🚨
Chrysler (FCA US) has announced the recall of 456,287 vehicles including:
- Ram 1500 2025-2026
- Ram 2500 2025-2026
- Ram 3500 Pickup 2025-2026
- Ram 3500/4500/5500 Cab Chassis 2025-2026
- Jeep Wagoneer S 2024-2026
- Jeep Cherokee 2026
What's the Problem?
The trailer tow module has a design defect that may cause:
- Trailer light failure (turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights)
- Trailer brake failure
If you're towing with an affected Ram, drivers behind you won't see when you brake or turn. Extremely dangerous. 😬
What to Do
Dealers will replace the module at no cost. Notification letters go out starting March 24, 2026.
If you own a 2025-2026 Ram and tow, don't wait for the letter — call your dealer or check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Context: Ford Too
This same week, Ford recalled 4.38 million F-150, Super Duty, Ranger, and Maverick trucks for a similar trailer module issue. Coincidence or industry-wide pattern — trailer tow modules are failing across the board.
At The Truck Savers™, we always recommend: before hitting the road, check your trailer lights, brakes, and connections. A quick inspection could save your life.
