Phoenix NASCAR: Put the Right Time on Your Calendar

Phoenix races run October 16–18. Separate local race times from Houston time and the downtown Fan Fest.

Phoenix NASCAR: Put the Right Time on Your Calendar

Phoenix Raceway has an October race weekend coming up, and the first useful preparation is a calendar that says more than NASCAR. A driver or owner-operator arranging time off needs to know which series, which date and which clock the entry uses. Someone joining family at the track also needs to separate a downtown gathering from a raceway visit. This guide organizes those decisions before the weekend, using schedules checked on October 9, 2026. It does not predict race results, promise ticket availability or describe a new road restriction.

Three races, three calendar entries

The official calendar lists the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series on Friday, October 16, and the Timberland PRO 200 for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday, October 17. Both are listed at 4:30 p.m. MST. The Cup Series Freeway Insurance 500 is Sunday, October 18, at noon MST. Save the series name alongside the date rather than putting one unlabeled time across the entire weekend. A Friday reminder is not the Sunday start, and a weekend heading is not an admission document.

Convert the date as well as the clock

For these October dates, Houston is two hours ahead of Phoenix and New York is three hours ahead. That puts the Friday and Saturday races at 6:30 p.m. in Houston and 7:30 p.m. in New York; Sunday is 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. These conversions apply to the dates above. When entering a phone reminder, select the event location’s time zone or explicitly label the converted time. Check what your device displays after saving it, especially if you expect to travel between time zones before race day.

Fan Fest has a different destination

The organizer’s August 31 announcement places a free Fan Fest at Heritage Square and Science Park in downtown Phoenix on Thursday, October 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. That is separate from the October 16–18 track program. If your group wants both, make two location entries. Decide where everyone will meet on Thursday before arranging the raceway arrival. Treat the free gathering as its own activity; do not assume that its announcement supplies a race ticket, camping space or parking access for another location.

Separate the start from your arrival

A scheduled race start is the time to work backward from, not the time to reach the parking entrance. Allow room in your own plan for parking, walking, entry checks and locating your seat. Make that buffer a deliberate choice rather than assuming it is included in the advertised start. The raceway has a detailed weekend schedule as well as its main event calendar. Recheck the date-specific program near departure, and distinguish a gate opening, a practice session and a race before updating your personal itinerary.

Choose what you are actually attending

Write down the day and activity you want first, then compare them with the admission product you are considering. Keep the purchase confirmation with that list so another person in your group can check the same details. A useful question is whether the document covers the event you selected, rather than whether its headline contains the word weekend. Ask the organizer about an unclear inclusion before planning around it. This guide makes no claim that a particular upgrade includes another service or that an advertised option remains available.

Check the map before setting the route

The raceway provides facility maps and a parking section in its fan guide. Use the current materials to identify your arrival destination; the archive photograph above is not a routing diagram. Save the relevant map where you can find it, and agree on a meeting point with anyone arriving separately. A useful plan names the destination, the person holding the admission documents and how the group will reconnect if a phone runs low. Those are planning suggestions, not a claim that every parking area uses identical entry rules.

Prepare the documents and the bag separately

The official fan guide recommends downloading tickets before arrival. Open the ticket in advance instead of discovering an account problem at the entrance. In a separate check, compare what you plan to carry with the current permitted-items policy. If a tool or container normally lives in your work vehicle, do not assume its usual place in your cab makes it acceptable through an event gate. We have not reproduced the full policy here. Consult the organizer’s current list for the actual object, dimensions and conditions you need.

A final check before October 16

Confirm the series and date, the correct time zone, your admission details, your parking destination and the current entry policy. Keep Thursday’s downtown activity separate if you plan to attend it. Recheck official updates before travel rather than relying exclusively on a saved image of an older schedule. The practical benefit is a clearer itinerary, not a guaranteed smooth trip.
