FMCSA’s tentative SMS calendar pairs an October 30 data snapshot with an approximate release during the week of November 9, 2026. A November 1 calendar reminder is therefore not evidence that a new result is already available. For a small carrier, the practical task is to identify which period the screen actually represents before comparing it with last month.

Save the date with the result

SMS is updated monthly, with processing between the snapshot and publication. The listed November date remains tentative. This article is a planning reminder checked on November 3, not an announcement that FMCSA has released November results or changed the applicable hours-of-service rules.

Create a review folder labeled with the USDOT number, the date you checked and the data date displayed. Keep those fields separate. A screenshot taken today can still show an earlier reporting period; its filename should not turn that older period into a newer one.

Compare the same thing

Before describing a change to an employee, customer or business partner, line up the previous and current records. Note the field being compared and whether both copies cover the periods you intended. An administrative comparison should explain what changed in the displayed information, rather than relying on the color of a screen or an undated image passed along in a message.

FMCSA distinguishes an SMS monitoring symbol from a federal safety rating. Do not rename a symbol as a rating in your own spreadsheet. If a customer asks for operating-status documentation, identify the specific record requested rather than assuming one screenshot answers every question.

Keep a possible error traceable

FMCSA provides DataQs for requests to review potentially incorrect data. Filing a request does not establish that a correction was accepted. Keep the original record, the question you raised and the response together so the next person reviewing the issue can follow it.

  • Identify the carrier by its own USDOT number.
  • Record the date of your check separately from the displayed data date.
  • Keep the previous comparable copy.
  • Describe the exact field or entry requiring attention.
  • Retain supporting documents and any review reference.
  • Assign someone to check the eventual response.

Turn the review into a practical handoff

These filing steps are TSN’s administrative checklist, not an additional FMCSA rule or a prediction about a carrier’s result. If the underlying task requires maintenance, you can research service businesses in Truck Savers Finder and confirm the work directly. A directory entry does not establish a carrier’s safety status.
