CVSA International Roadcheck 2026 Focuses on Suspensions and Steering

This year's CVSA Roadcheck is approaching, and the main focus will be suspension and steering systems. Is your truck ready to pass the inspection?

CVSA International Roadcheck 2026 Focuses on Suspensions and Steering

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has officially announced the dates: the 2026 International Roadcheck will take place from May 12 to 14, and this year's main focus will be on steering and suspension systems. During these 72 hours, an average of 15 trucks per minute are inspected across the US, Mexico, and Canada.

The Story Behind the Numbers

Picture this: you're rolling down I-35 at 2 AM hauling 40,000 pounds. You feel a strange vibration in the steering wheel, but decide to push through. Suddenly, a steer tire loses traction due to a worn bushing, and the truck jerks violently. That split second of sheer panic is exactly what inspectors are trying to prevent. The road is unforgiving, and when you're piloting an 80,000-pound beast, steering is everything.

Hard Data: Why Suspension and Steering?

The FMCSA has reported a 22% increase in accidents caused by mechanical failures in steering and suspension systems over the last year. A poorly maintained system not only causes irregular tire wear (eating away at your profit margins), but it also increases braking distance by 15% and critically reduces vehicle stability.

  • Loose or missing components in the steering linkage.
  • Broken leaf springs or damaged air bags.
  • Excessive irregular wear on steer tires.

Don't Let Your Hard Work Be Put Out of Service

An owner-operator recently told us how a surprise inspection left him stranded for 3 days at an Ohio weigh station over a simple leaf spring issue. He lost the load, paid emergency repair prices, and lost the broker's trust. Don't let that happen to you.

Precise Correction Before You Drive

The best way to avoid a violation (and a scare on the road) is to perform preventive diagnostics BEFORE May 12th. For this, we recommend visiting the experts at The Truck Savers and running your truck through their famous free road simulator inspection. It detects problems in suspension, steering, and over 100 critical points of the truck.

If the inspection reveals issues or irregular wear, the next step is to put the truck on the alignment computer to get everything straight. Make sure your truck is in perfect order before the Roadcheck begins. Remember, the iron never lies!
